The Alabama Chapter of Illuman
The Alabama Chapter of Illuman is a community of men who support men in our life-long journey to: heal our wounds and trauma, deepen our spirituality, and grow as elders to become good ancestors.
Upcoming Councils and Other Events
Currently, Illuman Alabama consists primarily of men in the Birmingham area and meets on the last Sunday afternoon of each month for council. Any and all brothers are welcome; contact us for specifics about location and time.
About Us
We formed as a chapter of Illuman in 2017 to support the growing number of men in the region on their spiritual journey of illumination. Our goal is to promote spiritual growth, healing, and wholeness for all men. We do this by holding retreats, encouraging men to be honest and open with each other, and helping men connect through small group meetings, which offer fellowship, growth, and accountability.
We are simply interested in becoming better, more authentic men. A growing number of men in Alabama have completed the Men’s Rites of Passage (MROP) developed by Richard Rohr and are seeking to deepen their spiritual walk.

“The needs of the world are too great, the suffering and pain too extensive, the lures of the world too seductive for us to begin to change the world unless we are changed.”
