A Saturday Morning for Good Men!

Why do bad things happen to good people!?! An eternal question, especially when God is all-powerful. Haven't we all had times and experiences when our world or significant parts of our lives collapsed? We've experienced disappointments, anger, depression, darkness, despair, hurt, grief, betrayal, denial, addictions, irritability, and abandonment. 

The Book of Job in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) addresses these issues of grief and lamentation. It is a dramatic poem about the suffering of the innocent, grief and retribution. Job suddenly loses his wealth, security, children and health, and struggles with his friends over the meaning of pain in our lives. "So why should I be happy about being born?" he cries. 

As good men trying to live good, healthy, holy and productive lives, Job has a lot to teach us. Setbacks and suffering can shrink us if we stuff the inside as men often do. The struggle can open us to trust the divine within and around us to strengthen and comfort us with peace through surrender. Bob Colaresi and Jack Moller will lead us in a morning reflection on Job's and our lives, with Presentations, Reflection, Council, Prompts, Ritual, Snacks and Lamentation Prayer.
