From Broken to Beautiful: Care and Repair of the Father Wound (Four-session Online Exploration)
From Broken to Beautiful: Care and Repair of the Father Wound
As we learned from spiritual writer, Richard Rohr, father-hunger and father-wounding are extremely common, especially among males, and there is abundant evidence that the wounds we carry from childhood are the ones that quietly shape us for life. Adult sons and dads of all ages are invited to join facilitators Keith Kahle and Tom Butler for a four-session exploration of the journey from parent-related childhood trauma to wherever you are on the spectrum of healing. This isn’t a lecture series or therapy. We’ll mostly sit in a virtual circle with other good men and tell stories.

ILLUMAN VIRTUAL COUNCIL (CST)
Illuman’s Virtual Council Circles use Zoom to gather men from anywhere in the world. They are designed as an opportunity to connect and a practice that helps men begin to find their true voice in the presence of other men on their journey of personal growth.
Illuman of Illinois Movie Night
Once again co-hosted by Chris Day and John Eustice at the St. Viator Province Center in Arlington Heights, this is an opportunity for casual fellowship around a thought provoking movie, with a relaxed discussion of the film afterwards.
This is a low pressure way to either stay connected with your brothers from Illuman Illinois, or to introduce other men to us in a drop-in, no commitment environment. Our goal is to offer showings on or as close to the 1 st Friday of each month, subject to the calendar of our generous Viatorian hosts.

Possible Parables w/ Jim Healy
Possible Parables with Jim Healy on October 24, 2026, at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien, Illinois.
About: We all know these scriptural stories. We know them so well that they’re opaque now. We may feel we’ve exhausted them, but there’s no end to their depth and their capacity to amaze and to pierce. Jim Healy does not just re-enact the stories; he re-imagines them from a different point of view; from a radically different perspective. The result is that old stories become new, not just in the performing, but in the shared reflections afterwards. Part theater, part "council", and part ritual. Come be a part of it and dive into our foundational stories of faith, doubt, and growth.

Job-The Mystery of Suffering
Why do bad things happen to good people!?! An eternal question, especially when God is all-powerful. Haven't we all had times and experiences when our world or significant parts of our lives collapsed? We've experienced disappointments, anger, depression, darkness, despair, hurt, grief, betrayal, denial, addictions, irritability, and abandonment.
Bob Colaresi and Jack Moller will lead us in a morning reflection on Job's and our lives, with Presentations, Reflection, Council, Prompts, Ritual, Snacks and Lamentation Prayer.

What Does a Healthy Masculine Spirituality Look Like?
We are inundated with much negative discussion about "toxic Masculinity". What does a positive masculinity look like? How is it lived out?
Veteran Illuman Weaver Jim Clarke served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in several capacities, including seminary professor, senior lecturer, workshop facilitator, coordinator of formation in the diaconate program, and spiritual director. Now retired Jim is a popular speaker, author, retreat master, and a great friend of men in the Illuman family.

Returning Initiated Men Program
Support Men On Their Journeys…This two day program allows you to continue your journey and support the new men experiencing initiation. The community of men who have been initiated is growing and your connection and support is vital. We are all in this together!
The MROP component for RIM (Returning Initiated Men) starts on Saturday August 15 @ noon and will conclude at the MROP closing ritual Sunday, August 16 @ 3pm.
Men's Rites of Passage (MROP)
The Men’s Rites of Passage (MROP) is Illuman’s signature event. Created by Fr. Richard Rohr, this four-night/five-day experience utilizes traditional patterns of male initiation (incorporating nature, ritual, image, story, contemplation, and small group bonding) to help awaken men to the adventure and mystery of their own masculinity, deep spirituality, personal identity, and life’s purpose.
MROP Initiator Program
If you’ve already completed your Men’s Rites of Passage (MROP) but want to go deeper in your experience, the Initiator Program is for you. Offered in conjunction with the Men’s Rites of Passage retreats, this program is not a repetition of your initial MROP, but a chance for the initiated man to deepen his journey while walking alongside and holding the initiation experience of other men.

CHOOSING PRESENCE W/ ST. THOMAS
We need to stop sleep-walking through life. Awakening to presence within and around us is critical to being human, holy and alive.
Practicing Presence invites men to slow down, breathe deeply, and awaken to the transforming power and gift of Divine Presence. Through engaging teachings, guided practices, councils, wandering in nature, and sacred ritual, participants will learn to cultivate a rhythm of meditation & centering, described in Jim Heaney’s book Choosing Presence.

Scapegoating: Breaking the Cycle
Throughout history and today Scapegoating has been a great social and personal evil. Rather than deal with our own weaknesses and negativity we find it easier to transfer our guilt onto some other group, person or things by singling that other out unmerited negative treatment.
We seem to need another person or group to be against to form our identity or group. Jack Moller and Bob Colaresi will lead us on a Saturday morning reflection on this prevalent Scapegoating that is a curse today socially and personally, to look at ways to break this vicious cycle.
It will be December 6th , 2025 – 8:30 to Noon, Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien.
